Kailey Johnson, violin and viola

Kailey Johnson was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and was blessed with a love for music at a very young age. At 7 years old, Kailey began taking violin lessons in Louisville, Kentucky with Suzuki teacher, Gloria Spurlock.
After high school, Kailey studied violin under Mr. Trung Trihn and earned an Associate of Arts with a focus on music studies. Kailey went on to study violin with Dr. Lynn Ledbetter at Texas State University, and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance. In 2020, she returned to Texas State university to complete a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy.
Kailey was a selected violinist in the 7th Annual “Julliard Joins Texas State” event and has been a participant at InterHarmony International Music festival in Acqui Terme, Italy and MusicArtissimo International Solo and Chamber Music Festival in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Kailey has performed in masterclasses given by Aleksey Igudesman, Yo-Yo Fann, Angel Stankov, the Unheard-of Ensemble, and the world-renowned Aeolus String Quartet. Kailey has served as concertmaster of the Texas State Symphony Orchestra and the Texas State Opera Orchestra. She has also been a section violinist in Symphony of North Houston and Kingwood Pops Orchestra, and has extensive chamber experience as a member of the Andrea String Quartet and the Texas State Graduate String Quartet.
