Jocelyn Barnes
Jocelyn Barnes has studied Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at Stephen F. Austin University. Over the span of her studies, she has performed in various recitals, concerts, shows, masterclasses, and opera workshops. A few of her notable opera roles include Frasquita in Carmen, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mrs. Fiorentino in Street Scene, Monisha in Treemonisha, and Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas. She has also performed in choruses for Street Scene, Dido and Aeneas, Orpheus in the Underworld, Carmen, and Tender Land.
Jocelyn is also well versed in the theater world, having training in acting and technical theater alike, and has even premiered roles in a few shows. Some of her most important theatre roles include El-Ahrairah in Watership Down, Good Witch of the South in The Wizard of Oz, and Grace in Dreams in BLK Major. She has also participated in clinics and masterclasses with Professor Kevin Murphy from the Jacobs School of Music, Metropolitan Opera Artist Yvonne Gonzales-Redman, and composer Dr. Andre Thomas.
Jocelyn's primary goal as an instructor is to develop well-rounded musicians with technical knowledge and musical expressivity. She emphasizes helping her students build confidence in their craft, so that one day they may inspire others to enrich their talents.
