Charles Robinson, piano

Charles Robinson began his early music education with a music scholarship to Litchfield Cathedral Choir School. At the age of 7, he began studies in piano and voice under Jonathan Rees Williams (Queen’s former organist and choirmaster), & organ under Andrew Lumsden (Organist at Westminster Abbey). He began cello studies whilst at Uppingham Music School in England, attaining the highest grade from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, with a minor in Cello Performance before attending The University of Houston and obtaining his Master’s degree in Music Theory & Composition. Studying under Keith Gates (Julliard), he reached the final of the BBC Young British Composer of the Year Competition, and was the winner of the 12th Indie International Film Festival. His choral work “Aperotos Eros” was performed by the University of Houston Women’s Chorus in 2011, and recorded by the St. Georges Singers at the Royal Northern College of Music in England.
He studied piano with Dr. Fred Sahlmann (Eastman), and jazz piano with Rick Condit (Fulbright scholar), becoming a member of the University Jazz Ensemble that reached the finals of the North Texas Jazz Festival, touring Louisiana and Texas. He has accompanied several artists including Bill Churchville (Tower of Power Jazz Trumpeter) and Jan Scott (Pastiche).
Recently he has composed & produced songs for J’Sun (Season 4 of the NBC reality singing competition “The Voice”) and Princeton Miles, featured on KUHA 91.7 FM.
