After completing his Master of Music Degree in double
bass performance (with Arizona State University), Ovidiu Lucian Manolache is working on his Doctorate at
Texas Tech University under Dr. Mark Morton guidance. He graduated from University
of Arts “George Enescu” in Iaşi, Romania. He won the 2-nd place in the finals
of National Olympics in Odorheiul Secuiesc, Harghita, Romania, and participated in The International Contest
for Double Bass “Joseph Prunner” 1-st edition, 2002, Bucharest, Romania. He was the student of Wolfgang
Guettler in Germany for 2 years, and in USA, Ovidiu became the student of Cătălin Rotaru, one of the most well-known double bass professor and player. During the years, he was member of the following orchestras
and musical assemblies: The Symphonic Orchestra of Filarmonica „Moldova” in Iaşi,
Romania (2002-2004), The Philarmonic Orchestra in Reutlinghen, Germany, (2004-2005), ASU Symphony Orchestra,
Winds Symphony (after 2005). He is currently a member
of Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Ovidiu Lucian Manolache is now on the verge of completing his doctoral program at Texas Tech,
working as a professional musician.
